Chinoiserie porcelain lamp

Vintage Chinoiserie porcelain lamp in the form of a rectangular temple jar, 1980`s ca, English.This lamp has been gently cleaned while respecting the vintage patina. It has been newly rewired and PAT tested by an electrician. It has a new brass lamp holder with matching cover, golden silk cable, new black switch on the cable and new black plug. It is possible to use this lamp with a dimmer. This lamp can be used in other countries with a light bulb suitable to local electricity. The base of this lamp is inspired by the traditional Chinese temple jar. It is decorated all around by a continuous tropic-oriental scene where people in traditional dress are visiting the Monkey King. The top & bottom are trimmed with a band of stylized leaves. This vintage lamp is generous size and would complement a range of interiors such as Antique, Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, Traditional or Contemporary. In this design a rectangular form jar sits on a plinth base. The jar graduates upward to a wide breadth then sharply tapers before the rectangular opening with lid. At the widest portion there are gilt handles either side. The porcelain is a very light celadon/white colour. The decorative transfer print is of great quality and detail, and encircles the jar. The scene is finished in hand painted golden gilt. The stepped plinthed portion of the porcelain jar sits on a dark polished wooden base. The original vintage square conical lamp shade completes the composition. The lamp shade is in black patent leather effect with a black fabric trim. The shade has metallic golden lining. This lamp carries one standard (E27) big screw light bulb up to 100 Watts. Presently fitted & photographed with a standard clear light bulb of 40 Watts, which is included in the price. Alternatively it is possible to use any other E27 bulb shape. This vintage lamp base is in very good condition. The porcelain body is intact, with no chips or cracks. There is some age patina like minor rubbing to the wooden base. The lamp shade has minor marks on the outside but no cuts or rips, and some "bubbling" on the inside gold metallic lining as photographed. Additional dimensions: The total dimensions with the shade on is: Height: 58.5 cm, Width: 45 cm, Depth: 45 cm The dimensions of the base without the shade is: Height: 46 cm, Width: 20 cm, Depth: 11 cm The lampshade alone has the following dimensions: Height: 17.5 cm, Width: 45 cm, Depth: 45 cm Packing is offered free of charge. The lamp shade would be removed and wrapped separately in bubble wrap with an outer layer of card. The base would be wrapped similarly. These pieces could fit together in a box with cushion filling for secure shipping with a courier.
