Antique beadwork made by POWs

This was possibly made by a Russian POW who celebrated The British Army during the Crimean War 1835-1856. The top section depicts the Scottish thistle, the English rose and the Irish shamrock. The 2nd panel shows a crown. The 3rd panel depicts a Russian double headed eagle. The 5th panel shows an artillery canon with the French flag and the flag of the Aland Islands (now part of Finland). The 6th panel shows a roundel with the flag of the Aland Islands in the centre. The cloth pockets, possibly taken from uniforms; act as the background to the fine handmade glass beads. The whole is presented in a 19th century oak frame, glazed. circa 1854
