19thc yew Windsor chair

A rare and unusual early 19th century (circa 1830) yew wood wheelback Windsor chair with excellent patina (colour), probably from the Thames Valley region. This chair consists of a hoop back with scribed edge and central pierced splat with wheel design and turned spindles to either side leading down to an unusual well figured solid elm seat of circular form. The chair is supported by turned legs to the front and back all supported by a crinoline stretcher. This chair is in very good condition for age with evidence of some old repairs (which is to be expected), is of stable construction and can go straight into a home or collection. Size: Height: 33.75'' / 85.75cm Width: 17'' / 43cm Depth: 20'' / 50.75cm Seat height: 17'' / 43cm
