A sensational and large scale French 18th century Louis XVI period patinated and giltwood Trumeau. At each bottom corner are giltwood urns with Greek key handles and flowers in a patinated bluish grey recessed panel. Each urn flanks a recessed panel with a central carved mask and carved foliate giltwood rinceau patterns. Along each side of the trumeau are foliate giltwood carvings also within a recessed panel. The original mirror plate is framed in a straight rectangular border below a protruding shelf with a fanciful giltwood basket filled with flowers and foliate garlands at its side. Centered above are two richly carved giltwood fauns facing each other holding up flowers in an urn amidst foliate rinceau giltwood patterns. All original gilt.
