Fine set of 8 mahogany dining chairs including two armchairs dating to the Regency period of England, characteristically called "Trafalgar Chairs" for bearing the twisted rope design at their back, celebrating Nelson's naval victory of Trafalgar. The upper back splats are brass line inlaid, surrounding well figured mahogany. There is abundance of carved reeding on the back splat as well as on the vertical stiles of the back. The seats have rounded corners with carving and finely turned and reeded front legs. The rear legs are of sabre shape. The armchairs are slightly larger as usual and they measure: W54, D54, H83cms. All chairs are in ready to use condition having required only light cosmetic restoration and refreshment with french polish. The new upholstery could be changed according to client's taste.
