Maison Jansen bronze drinks trolley with removable tray & lower shelf, 1950`s ca, French. Thoroughly cleaned respecting the antique patina and ready to use. This vintage solid bronze trolley with its heart trimmed galleried top & shelf would make a smart drinks or side table. The Neoclassical features executed in solid bronze & attention to detail suggest this piece could be from Maison Jansen. The portions, elegant lines, and repeated geometric forms such as the mirrored glass surfaces are all Neoclassical references. Slender & elegant this trolley is a nice alternative to larger variations. It is an ideal height for serving drinks or to stand next to an armchair. It would suit a range of decors such as Traditional, Hollywood Regency, Art Deco or Contemporary Minimalist. Structurally this trolley consists of a rectangular top with a similar shaped lower shelf. Both have a bronze galleried top pierced with a heart motif surrounded by etched decorations. The top also has a fitted removable tray with decorative `U` shaped handles. The quality 6 mm glass surfaces of the top & shelf are both the original. Each has a silver mirrored border 3 cm wide. The four legs of the main frame have an attractive & unusual hexagonal section. The legs are securely joined together horizontally with the frames of the top & the shelf giving strength to the piece. The removable top tray sits upon the upper tier which is a rectangular bronze frame joining together the legs. At the junction of this rectangular frame & the leg there is a decorative geometric detail repeating the rectangular theme. The 4 legs are topped with a conical finial. At the bottom of the legs there are bronze castors with metal wheels. This vintage drinks trolley is in very good condition. The 2 original glass surfaces are in excellent condition with no chips and only tiny superficial wear in line with age. The bronze finish is the original, and is free from any damages or major marks. The bronze has a warm antique patina developed over the years. Packing is offered free of charge. For safe transport the glass surfaces would be removed and wrapped individually then boxed. The frame would be bubble wrapped with an outer layer of card. This piece could easily be boxed and shipped by a courier service. Additional dimensions: The space inside the tray has a width of 44.5 cm and depth of 34 cm. Height or `space` between the glass surfaces is 38 cm.Maison Jansen Furniture History - Maison Jansen was a Paris based interior decoration office founded in 1880 and continued until 1989.
