Some history about the design process of the sofa: In the past we have stocked at Roomscape original vintage Ico Parisi sofas. As originals are difficult to come by and often there are many issues with condition, we arranged to have this model newly made. Working with local craftsman in Italy using traditional methods to exact specifications and quality materials, each sofa has a quality solid wooden frame. The ‘kidney shape’ seat portion of the sofa has two areas; to the left it is narrow with a lower back which rises to the right with a circular end. The curved back follows an organic movement with the maximum height near the centre of the sofa. The back lowers at both ends and goes on to elegantly embrace the seat. This detail creates movement & continuity. This piece is fully trimmed around both the frame & seat cushion which emphasises the shape and flow of design. The frame sits on 6 removable handmade solid polished brass legs that screw to the frame. Each leg is in solid brass and has the top portion made as a plate, with four holes to screw to the sofa giving great stability to the piece. All the components meet fire regulations. Packing is offered free of charge. The frame will be wrapped in several layers of bubblewrapp/foam/cardboard and a final layer of cellophane for safe transport. If necessary the legs can be easily unscrewed from the frame and packed separately in a box. Full dimensions: Total Width (horizontal virtual line between both ends) is 260 cm. The Height of the seat from the floor is 44 cm. The maximum Depth (maximum projection between front & back ends) is 125 cm. The Depth of the narrow portion on the left side is 75 cm. The Depth of the wider end on the right side is 105 cm. The Height of the frame when the legs are off is 57 cm. When the legs are on, the Height (space) between the frame and the floor is 20 cm.ICO PARISI FURNITURE - Domenico (Ico) Parisi (1916-1996) was born in Sicily and trained as an architect.
