Description:

HAR serpent or cobra necklace, bracelet & earrings of enamelled gold tone and rhinestones 1959, New York. This is the company`s most sought after and collectible fantasy set and part of costume jewellery history. This is an eye-catching conversation piece and exciting to wear.  The necklace features a twisted gold tone chain. The centre section with cobra motif is decorated with the famous ‘lava stones’ amber rhinestones, and all set in green enamel. The enamelled metal has fine detail and is in excellent condition with an antiqued wash that allows the highly textured metal to shine through. The cobra head predominates the hinged-clamper bangle bracelet. The earrings are clip on and can be converted for pierced ears. The box-type clasp is on the back of the cobra centrepiece; thus the gold tone chain is continuous and the clasp is hidden.  The bangle is stamped HAR with copyright C on the tail. The back of one earring is also stamped. This copyright for this piece was given in April 1959. The necklace is not signed as usual.  All pieces in very good vintage condition. On  the bracelet one of the lava stones has a slight chip This set is featured in Judith Miller`s book Costume Jewellery and Nancy Shiffer’s ‘Fun Jewelry’ Necklace:  Height: 6 cm  Width: 44 cm  Depth: 2.5 cmBracelet:  Height: 4 cm  Width: 7 cm  Depth: 7 cmEarrings:  Height: 3.5 cm  Width: 3 cm Depth: 2 cm HAR was part of Hargo Creations from New York.
