Coat rack composed of brass horses attributed to Maison Charles, 1950`s ca, French.This item has been gently cleaned while respecting the vintage patina. It is ready to use. This elegant coat/hat rack has solid brass horse heads and Neoclassical design references similar to the work by French furniture designer Maison Charles. With the equestrian theme & sculptural presence, this rack would suit a range of interiors such as Antique, Country, Traditional, Hollywood Regency, Post Modern, Industrial or Contemporary. The design is classic, timeless and decorative. The composition consists of a pair of horse heads in polished brass holding in their mouths a polished brass horizontal pole. The horses heads are quality cast in solid polished brass. Each has a space in the mouth where to slide the polished brass pole. The pole is secured in place by a small screw under the horse`s mouth. Each head can be shifted along the pole and is removable. The head is screwed in to a wall plate. This is also a quality casting following a Neoclassical motif. Each plate has four small holes to be screwed to the wall. The solid brass pole is finished at both ends with a gilt nut held in place by a screw. Each hook is also held in place with a small screw. The hooks can be shifted along the pole or removed. Therefore it is possible to position the hooks in a range of positions. This vintage coat rack in very good condition. It is a good size & weight and structurally sound. The brass surfaces have the original patina such as minor rubbing which adds character. We take special professional care while packing. For safe transport the pole & hooks would be wrapped separately in bubble wrap and an outer layer of card. These would be stacked together. The horse head bases would also be wrapped separately in bubble wrap and and an outer layer of card.
