Chinese reverse painted mirror, particularly large in the Chinoiserie style attributed to La Barge, 1980`s ca, American. This vintage wall mirror has been thoroughly cleaned while respecting the vintage patina. This decorative mirror is reverse painted reminiscent of the Chinese technique. Its large size and Chinoiserie style would make it an attractive addition to a range of interiors such as Antique, Traditional, Turn of the Century, Art Deco, Hollywood Regency or Contemporary. Although reverse-glass painting originated in medieval Europe, it was in Asia where the technique flourished. The vibrant colours and absence of perspective made it well suited for Asian artists. Original antique Chinese reverse painted mirrors are hugely valuable for the craftsmanship and decorative impact.
