Description:

Brutalist brass console & mirror in the Constructivist style, 1970`s Italian. This vintage console & matching mirror have been thoroughly cleaned while respecting the aged patina. They are ready to install & use. This price includes tax. Inspired by Scaffolding Architecture, this set is unique & interesting. Stripped down to basic brass rods these are layered and connected in a complex & puzzling way. The look is light but the piece is sturdy. It is fair to say we have never seen anything like it. Playfully the wall mirror has many of the elements from the console design, confirming the designer`s intent to make scaffolding decorative. It is rare to find a matching console & mirror. This handsome set would complement a smart interior from Art Deco, Modernist, Minimalist, 70`s Glamour, Industrial or Contemporary. The console table is a series of brass rods interconnected to make a 3 dimensional base. There are six vertical supports made up of pairs of rods for support, balance & volume. Four of these are in the front and two in the back. Connecting these are horizontal supports, again pairs of rods. The lower horizontal support is only one rod to keep the look `light` and emphasize height. The vertical & horizontal rods crossover in a layered & detailed junction. Here there is a brass adapter tightly screwing the pieces together. The diameter of the tubular brass rods is 13 mm. There are many subtle details present in the composition. Three to note are the brass joints interconnecting the rods, the circular brass covers at the end of each rod and the rubber stoppers at the end of each rod to protect the floor. On top of the brass frame sits a large smoked glass surface. The clear glass top in a shade of brown, has a thickness of 10 mm. This thickness contributes to the horizontal lines of the design. The front corners of the glass are rounded while the back are squared. The glass sits safely on clear rubber stoppers fitted at the top of each vertical brass rod making the piece very stable. The wall mirror playfully features elements of the console design. It has a similar smoked glass surface, in this case 6 mm thick. At either side of the mirror surface there is a brass rod; the vertical ones are on the external side of the glass while the horizontal ones are behind the glass. These are joined in a similar manner as the junctions of the console. At the back of the mirror there are two hooks to fit the mirror to the wall. The solid brass frame is in very good condition and it is sturdy. The brass has a warm aged patina where in the junctions this adds depth. The glass & mirror surfaces are in very good condition with no cracks or scratches. Packing is offered free of charge. We take special professional care while packing. The glass top would be removed and wrapped separately in bubble wrap and an outer layer of card as would the mirror. The frame would have bubble wrap and an outer layer of card if necessary. This set could fit together in a box and could be shipped by Fedex Freight. Additional dimensions: The console table has the following dimensions: Height: 72 cm, Width: 143.4 cm, Depth: 42.8 cm. The wall mirror has the following external dimensions - Height: 85.5 cm, Width: 85.5 cm, Depth: 5 cm. The actual mirrored surface has the following dimensions - Height: 61.8 cm, Width: 61.8 cm.
