A magnificent French 18th century Louis XV period quarter veneered tulipwood and kingwood Bureau Plat. The desk is raised on cabriole legs with ormolu wrap around sabots and reeded designed chute that continues to a finely chased ormolu mount of a masculine mask above each leg. At the frieze is a wide central drawer with an impressive ormolu mask flanked by laurel garland ormolu mounts. Ormolu handles and keyhole escutcheons decorate each side drawer, all trimmed with ormolu bands. At each ormolu trimmed side are superb ormolu female masks. At the top is a gilt tooled leather within a kingwood border and ormolu gallery with acanthus leaf mounts at each corner. All original patina and ormolu.
